Castor oil  is a drug prepared according to the Polish Pharmacopoeia. Its long history of use is primarily due to its strong laxative properties. Castor oil is a medicinal product that causes increased peristaltic movements of the small intestine, as well as increased secretion of digestive glands and liquefaction of intestinal contents, which in turn leads to defecation. The preparation is intended for adults and children over 7 years of age who suffer from constipation. In cosmetology, it is also used as a conditioning agent for hair and nails.

Castor oil is a medicinal product that causes increased peristaltic movements of the small intestine, as well as increased secretion of digestive glands and liquefaction of intestinal contents, which in turn leads to defecation. The preparation is intended for adults and children over 7 years of age who suffer from constipation. In cosmetology, it is also used as a conditioning agent for hair and nails.

(Ricinus communis L.); is a woody plant grown in tropical or subtropical countries. Oil is obtained from the seeds, which has an irritating effect on the small intestine. The ingredient responsible for this effect is ricinoleic acid. The irritated intestinal mucosa causes increased intestinal peristalsis and a bowel movement. Castor bean was already known in Ancient Egypt, its seeds were found in the tombs of pharaohs from 4,000 years ago. Papyri from that time show that it was also used as a laxative.

Laxative drug.

Composition: castor oil
Indications:  constipation.

Contraindications:  hypersensitivity to castor oil, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, intestinal obstruction, inflammation of the abdominal and pelvic organs.
How to use:  adults 10-20 g (1-2 tablespoons), children over 7 years of age according to the doctor’s recommendations. The laxative effect should occur after 2-6 hours. Do not use for longer than a few days. If the symptoms do not subside, consult a doctor. In case of doubts about the use of the drug, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
